Drusilla The Mother-in-Law

Born 18? England
Died 18? England

Profession- Killer Vampire (Suffers from mental instability due to shock suffered by human soul on transformation)

Family-
(Human, unknown) Most killed by Angelis (C'mon Angelus sounds like the dumb cousin from Bug Tussle...Angelis is much sportier) just before her death

Father/Sire (vampiral)-Angelis
Grandmother (vampiral)-Darla
Son (vampiral)-Spike (William Walthrop as human and post-redemption)
Daughter-in-law (robotic human) Buffy Rebecca Summers-Walthrop

Chances for Redemption- None...Dru is pure vampiral demon, her soul having fled to limbo in terror after transformation...Only random memories allowing it to mimic aspects of the human personality remain... However, fear has a notable curative effect on her psychosis...
Role in Spike’s Redemption-

(From “In for A Penny”) Darla notes that Spike’s transformation was handled poorly by Dru as she was too immature and of course mentally unbalanced...

Her earlier rejection of Spike played a part in encouraging his contacts with Buffy Summers...And the eventual construction of Buffy Rebecca...

(From “In for A Penny”, “The Tie That Binds”) Spike makes it clear he regards setting human Dru free to be an essential step in cementing his redemption...

Although Dru gave up her first attempt to return Spike to his older state, she continues to hope that it will be possible...If only as a threat/punishment for her new daughter-in-law...

Relationship with BR

(From “In for A Penny) Dru recognized the presence of a second soul in Buffy during her period of vampire transformation and sensed that a new and stronger link had been formed between Buffy and Spike...At this time Dru became a principal in the murder of Hank Summers, father to Buffy and in spirit to Buffy Rebecca and Dawn...

(From “The Tie That Binds”) Dru regards BR with her usual schzoid pattern...As her enemy, bent on helping Spike achieve her destruction...And as her “daughter-in-law” who may be persuaded to spare her in order to save Spike...She is however primarily interested in survival...And had left indications that she would leave the Walthrops alone if she herself was unbothered...

However, besides supporting her husband’s quest, her “daughter-in-law” has not forgotten her human father...

Dru has secretly left a defensive autohypnotic suggestion in Buffy Summers’ mind, linking Dru’s face to Joyce Summers’, planted during her attempts to reach Buffy’s vampire demon in “The Tie That Binds”...And therefore that suggestion is in Buffy Rebecca’s mind...

Favorite Song-
“Blest Be The Tie That Binds”
